Bio

I grew up in Covington, GA and attended the University of Georgia where I earned a B.S. in Cellular Biology. I continued my education/training at UGA and earned a PhD in Cellular Biology. My dissertation project involved using molecular approaches such as CRISPR-Cas9 to better understand the role of GABA during nervous system development in zebrafish. As a graduate student, I was the Gross Anatomy Lab TA at the AU/UGA Medical Partnership, which is where my passion for teaching really developed. After completing my PhD, I spent a year and a half as a Visiting Professor of Biology at Emory University’s Oxford Campus teaching undergraduate Biology and Genetics courses. I'm now an Assistant Professor of Cellular Biology & Anatomy here at AU.
