Bio

Anastasia Wilson is an associate professor at Augusta University. She has a Ph.D. in Mathematical Sciences (focusing on Computational Mathematics) from Clemson University and an M.S. in Applied Mathematics from North Carolina State University. Prior to Augusta University, she worked as a Teaching Assistant (at both Clemson University during her Ph.D. and North Carolina State University during her masters) and a full-time lecturer at Clemson University for two years before her doctoral program. Dr. Wilson also worked as a Research Engineering Student Trainee in the Structural Mechanics and Concepts Branch at NASA Langley Research Center while she was finishing her Ph.D.

Research Interests

Dr. Wilson conducts research in mathematical modeling, computer simulation methods, computational mathematics, numerical analysis, and mathematical optimization, with a specific focus on interdisciplinary research projects involving real-world, physical applications – she does not just build useful models but is able to fully analyze the error in the algorithms used to approximate the solutions. Dr. Wilson’s research involves both theoretical analysis of mathematical models of non-trivial physical systems and development of computational frameworks that match both theoretical expectations and physical experiments. She has worked on various research projects with Chemical Engineers at Clemson University; Aerospace Engineers at NASA Langley and Politecnico di Torino; and computational scientists at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, the University of Utah, Virginia Tech, and the Oden Institute for Computational Engineering & Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin.
