The Augusta University Life Sciences Business Development Center (LSBDC), located
next to the Office of Innovation Commercialization, is a biobusiness incubator designed
with a full spectrum of amenities that faculty, staff and student researchers require
to commercialize technologies that can change lives. Augusta University entrepreneurs,
in newly spun-out companies, can build a Georgia-based enterprise.
The LSBDC, located on the university’s Health Sciences Campus in Augusta, Georgia,
has over 13,000 square feet of space that can accommodate up to five entrepreneurial
businesses in life sciences. Key scientific equipment is included, such as laminar
flow hoods, incubators, refrigerators, freezers, centrifuges, waterbaths, etc.
A company suite includes:
- Large wet lab, including benches, sinks, desks, tables, chairs, storage shelves and
file cabinets
- A dedicated tissue-culture room
- Two offices with phone and Internet service
Incubator shared items include:
- Darkroom
- Ample conference rooms with teleconference capabilities
- Break/Lunch room
- Storage space
- Mail/copy/fax room
- Autoclave room
- Access to core labs and other resources on campus

- Clinical-trials coordination
- Access to statewide resources for entrepreneurs and biomedical researchers
