The On-line Collaborative Research Environment (OnCore) is a comprehensive web-based clinical research management system (CRMS) that seamlessly integrates all of the components of research activity across the research enterprise.

OnCore is Augusta University’s CRMS of record.  OnCore provides an informatics infrastructure for managing research, including the full range of operational components:

  • Clinical trial lifecycle management

  • Study participant and safety management

  • Electronic data capture

  • Scientific Review Committee management

  • Reporting

  • Biospecimen management

  • Sponsor billing compliance

  • Study budget management

  • Patient registries, and

  • Integration with other enterprise-wide systems.

OnCore is designed to lessen the burden on investigators and research staff, so that conducting research is organized and efficient. It is not limited to administrative tasks, however. OnCore has the capability to capture and store research data that can be exported for additional analyses and reporting.

Phase 1

  • Implement OnCore's CRMS with basic protocol and subject management functionality, and demographic interface. 
  • Implement calendaring function, including forms and patient visit tracking

Phase 2

  • Deployment to Cancer Center, Comprehensive Sickle Cell Center and Clinical Trials Office
  • Retrieve Protocol Execution (RPE) integration with PowerTrials/Electronic Medical Record to indicate subject trial participation status
  • Implement biospecimen management system (BSM) and unified registries management (URM)

Phase 3

  • Study Billing Compliance
  • Deployment to entire enterprise, including College of Allied Health Sciences, Dental College of Georgia, College of Nursing, Research Centers and Research Institutes
  • Link to IRBNet
  • Begin interface with EMR laboratory results and radiology results, and financial systems

Basic training for research staff is available online via pre-recorded training videos by Forte Research Systems. Training covers OnCore basics, such as navigating OnCore, personalizing the home page, an overview of the Protocol Coordinator (PC) Console, Regulatory and Task List Management and CRA/Subjects consoles for subject status management and visit tracking. You will be assigned videos based on your research role.

Online Training and Access Request:
• For AU/AUMC employees, complete the Training and Access Request - Augusta-AUHS and forward the signed form to
• For affiliate site users, complete Access & Training Request Form Affiliate Sites. Send completed form to the Augusta University Research Manager for the multi-center study for which you are participating.

The OnCore Office will register you in Forte Academy. In addition, a user profile in the OnCore Training database will be created for you for practice purposes. Details will be provided in a confirmation email.

Competency Quiz:
• The Subjects – Basics, Financials – Basics and the Protocols - Basics training videos, require completion of the Forte Academy Knowledge Check after watching the respective video.  A score of 80% is required to pass.  Please email PDFs of the Knowledge Check results and the Certificate(s) of Completion to the OnCore Office at

OnCore Access:

• Upon receipt of your competency certifications, the OnCore Office will submit the request for you to access AU resources (affiliate sites only), and your OnCore account will be activated in the PROD (real) database.
