Augusta University has been reviewed by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical
Education (ACCME®) and awarded accreditation with commendation for six years as a
provider of continuing medical education (CME) for physicians. Accreditation in the
ACCME System seeks to assure the medical community and the public that Augusta University delivers
education that is relevant to clinicians’ needs, evidence-based, evaluated for its
effectiveness, and independent of commercial influence.
What is Accreditation with Commendation?
“Accreditation with Commendation” confers a six-year term of accreditation, rather than the standard four-year term. Less than 20 percent of ACCME providers receive commendation designation.
Why Accredited CME Matters
Accredited CME addresses every medical specialty, covering the full range of topics important to healthcare improvement. Whether physicians work in clinical care, research, healthcare administration, executive leadership, or other areas of medicine, accredited CME is designed to be relevant to their needs, practice-based, and effective.
Participation in accredited CME helps physicians meet requirements for maintenance of licensure, maintenance of certification, credentialing, membership in professional societies, and other professional privileges.
Physicians can count on accredited CME to provide a protected space for them to learn and teach without commercial influence.
Clinicians are expected to deliver safe, effective, cost-effective, compassionate care, based on best practice and evidence. Accredited CME helps make that happen.

Augusta University is an ADA CERP Recognized Provider. ADA CERP is a service of the American Dental Association to assist dental professionals in identifying quality providers of continuing dental education. ADA CERP does not approve or endorse individual courses or endorse individual courses or instructors, nor does it imply acceptance of credit hours by boards of dentistry. Augusta University designates each activity for the listed credit hours of continuing education credits. Concerns or complaints about a CE provider may be directed to the provider or to ADA CERP at www.ada.org/goto/cerp.
About
ADA CERP is managed by the Commission for Continuing Education Provider Recognition (see CCEPR Membership). Through an application and review process, the Commission evaluates and recognizes institutions and organizations that provide continuing dental education. CE providers are evaluated in 14 aspects of CE program quality defined in the ADA CERP Recognition Standards and Procedures. Providers approved through the program are designated as ADA CERP Recognized Providers. Only providers that meet the CERP Recognition Standards are granted approval and are authorized to use the ADA CERP logo and recognition statement. Once approved, providers are held accountable for maintaining those same high standards through periodic reevaluation. CCEPR does not approve specific CE courses or credits.
Over 500 providers of continuing dental education have been approved through the ADA CERP National Recognition Program or the Extended Approval Process. Annually, CERP recognized providers offer a combined total of more than 20,000 unique continuing dental education activities.

Augusta University Division of Professional and Community Education is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the South Carolina Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
Many nurses look for approved SCNA/ANCC contact hours when making educational activity decisions. Because SCNA is ANCC/COA accredited, its approval is recognized by all other state nurses associations and most state boards of nursing. Nurses licensed in other states are advised to check on that state’s specific requirements regarding reciprocity.
