Highlighting the Free Mental Health Clinic, started by Psychiatry Residents in the
Spring of 2019, services are on-going. The Free Mental Health Clinic offers free psychiatric services
to the uninsured or under-insured population that is 200% below the federal poverty

Dr. Norah Essali, previous general psychiatry resident, was selected in October 2020
as a 2021 Laughlin Fellow of the American College of Psychiatrists candidate.
Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Our department Chairman, Dr. Vaughn McCall hosted and
welcomed our Class of 2024 psychiatry residents to the department.
June 11, 2020, the Department virtually celebrated the graduation of Residents and
Interns. We are proud of the accomplishments of these individuals and their hard
work they put forth for the community and their service to the patients of the University.
The Department of Psychiatry Training Director, Dr. Camino and our psychiatry residents
are in Puerto Rico providing psychiatric aid to the victims of recent earthquakes
(Feb 2020).
