The General Psychiatry Seminar Series is composed of protected Thursday didactics. All residents, except 2 (who cover ED and C/L services), are exempt from clinical duties and allowed to fully participate in the entire day.
8am - 10am | Individual Supervision |
10am - 11:20am | Psychotherapy focused lecture |
11:30am - 12:30am | Grand rounds (every other week) or Resident meeting (monthly) |
1pm - 2pm | Resident lead Case Conference or Morbidity/Mortality |
2pm - 3:15pm | Psychiatry focused lecture |
3:15pm - 4:30pm | Psychiatry focused lecture |
4:30pm - 5pm | Fitness Initiative |
Besides lecture based activities, some Thursdays are also utilized as service days in which residents engage in various activities to engage patients and give back to the community. We also have a few Thursdays throughout the year dedicated to "Psychiatric Cinemia" in which we view and discuss a movie with various mental health themes.
The above are supplemented with a Core Curriculum Seminar Series which is a series of institution-wide lunchtime educational program that are presented to all departments and cover a wide variety of topics including: "The Resident as a Teacher", "Impaired Physicians", "Cultural Diversity", etc. All PGY levels can attend these offerings which are also available on-line.
