Dr. Kathryn Bollinger attended the University of Wisconsin and completed both M.D. and Ph.D. degrees at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She achieved her doctorate degree under the mentorship of Maureen and Jay Neitz in the area of cone photoreceptor cell biology.
Dr. Bollinger completed her ophthalmology residency and fellowship in glaucoma at the Cole Eye Institute-The Cleveland Clinic Foundation. She then served on staff at the Cole Eye Institute as a member of the glaucoma department from 2008-2009. During this time, she was also a clinical associate member of the laboratory of Dr. John Crabb and headed projects focused toward quantitative proteomic analysis of glaucomatous tissues.
Dr. Bollinger specializes in screening, diagnosis, and management of all forms of adult glaucoma. She performs laser procedures, glaucoma surgery, and cataract surgery using state-of-the-art techniques. Dr. Bollinger is the principle investigator of a glaucoma research laboratory directed toward identifying early disease markers for glaucoma and targets for therapeutic intervention. She is the recipient of an American Health Assistance Foundation postdoctoral grant from the Glaucoma Research Foundation for 2008-2009.
Summary: The glaucoma specialist performs diagnostic evaluations as well as medical, laser, and surgical treatment procedures directed toward preventing vision loss from glaucoma. Surgical management also includes combined cataract extraction and glaucoma procedures.
