MCG Educational Simulation primarily offers, or can provide assistance for, a wide variety of learning opportunities across the continuum of medical education. MEDICAL STUDENTS

Education simulation

Simulation Education Elective (MEDI 6001)

  • This medical student elective provides third- and fourth-year students with an introduction to the practice of simulation in medical education, through a review of the academic literature, hands-on simulation activities, and the development of a new simulation case.

Step 2 CS Preparation

  • This course is designed for students who are working to prepare for their Step 2 CS examination. Focuses on the skills and knowledge needed to prepare for the exam.

 

RESIDENTS AND FELLOWS

Resident and Fellow Simulation Elective

  • Participants in this elective will engage in a wide range of simulation activities, as learners, facilitators, and scholars, including the development of a simulation case or activity.

This course guides the learner through the purpose and design of a simulation case. The learner will utilize the MCG Educational Simulation Case Template to develop a case, with the goal of understanding the educational and operational considerations when developing a simulation case.  Designed for faculty teaching with simulation for learners at any level.

This course will be an introduction to the functions of the simulator, the basics of programming the mannequin and hands-on experience in running a medical simulation. This course teaches the goals, educational construct, theory and practical applications of debriefing in the simulated setting. Learners will be able to practice basic debriefing techniques and learn about the debriefing tool utilized by MCG Educational Simulation. This course will introduce the participants to a wide range of topics related to the design, development, and implementation of individual assessment instruments and program evaluations in educational simulations. This course is designed for faculty who are engaged in educational simulations with any level of learners.
