Charge: Purpose: 1. Provide recommendations on the array of systems, support and services that support the University’s research mission. 2. Recommend priorities and sequencing for development and integration for all major information systems crucial to research. Objectives: • Review the current and planned array of IT services supporting the research mission with the purpose of improving the PI experience and increasing PI productivity. • Recommend priorities and resource allocation for research systems operations, enhancements, and new initiatives to assure alignment with the University’s research goals and needs. • Monitor progress of research system initiatives and provide guidance to ongoing research systems operations, support efforts, and enhancements. • Consider and discuss impact of research system changes on PIs, process, technology, standards and policies. • Champion effective information and IT security measures, policies and practices to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of resources are preserved. • Review all requests for new information systems and IT services impacting research support functions to prevent unnecessary redundancy or non-sustainable service implementations and their resulting inefficiencies and risks.
