The Augusta University Lyceum Series remains committed to the model set forth by its namesake, the ancient Greek school where Aristotle fed the inquisitive minds of his students. The Lyceum Series continues this historic tradition by presenting cultural enriching, national and international, music, theater, dance, lectures, and special programming designed to entertain, educate, and inform. Over the course of a student's time at Augusta University the Lyceum Series presents a range of world class events in a wide variety of genres and interests. Lyceum presents events from different cultures and countries. University life is about more than academics. Through attending events students learn that people and traditions they may have thought to be foreign, outside of their experience, resonate with them personally. By listening to music or experiencing dance from another culture or tradition, students find that part of themselves and others than is human and alike. This will help them both in the academic setting and professional setting to be more eager to learn about others and more willing to engage.

Charge: The Committee is chaired by the Director of the Maxwell Theatre. Each College is invited to have two student and two faculty/staff members of the Committee. In addition to these, the Director or a designee from the Harry Jacobs Chamber Music Society, the Director or a designee from the Office of Multi-Cultural Student Engagement, a representative from the Division of Communication and Marketing, and two staff members from the Maxwell Theatre serve on the Committee. Meetings are held in the fall and spring semesters to determine the schedule for the next season. Due to the size of the committee, it is not expected that all members will be able to attend. In addition to the meetings, members are sent lists of possible events via email and invited to submit suggestions. Members will vote on events they would like to see happen.
