Dr. Weir is a native of South Carolina, where he attended Furman University for his undergraduate education, then attended the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, where he graduated with honors in the top quartile of his class. He completed a research fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina, then completed his residency training in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Cincinnati before pursuing additional fellowship training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery and Microvascular Reconstruction. Dr. Weir’s clinical interests include caring for patients with complex head and neck cancers with a focus on transoral robotic surgery, advanced endocrine surgery, and microvascular free flap reconstruction. He is a member of the American Head and Neck Society and has presented his research at national and international conferences on the treatment of head and neck cancer and has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and textbook chapters. His research interests include transoral robotic surgery outcomes, free flap reconstruction technique advancement, and non-surgical management of thyroid diseases. Dr. Weir also has a special interest in Global Health Outreach programs and has worked internationally with physicians at clinics in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and Uganda. Outside of his clinical practice, Dr. Weir enjoys spending time with his family in South Carolina, sailing, and training for his next Ironman triathlon.
