COVID has affected our emergency department in similar fashion to other children’s
emergency departments. We are rebounding to our normal volume as shelter in place
has been lifted. Although Georgia has seen a spike in cases during July 2020, the
community is well poised with close connections with state and local entities to limit
the impact on our hospital. Our fellowship has not missed a beat. Fellows have been
operational and working to complete the curriculum both clinical and academic. We
additionally have preserved our in- person academic meetings with the appropriate
distancing directives and mask donning. Fellows and faculty are working in a well-protected
and exceptional learning environment.
