Dustin's research identifies and tests implementable policies, both on the supply and demand sides as well as the market institutions that shape how they meet, that contain health care costs, and maximize health outcomes. He investigates how behavioral economic principles such as framing, influence stakeholders perceptions of programs and policy, and how those perceptions impact success. He utilizes economic experiments, observational methods, and meta-analysis to inform policy and advance the sciences of economics and health policy, while ensuring the validity and replicability of scientific findings.
Dustin holds a PhD in Economics from the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University, graduated from Vanderbilt University’s Graduate Program in Economic Development, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Economic Science Institute at Chapman University. Previously, he was a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) and was a practicing psychotherapist.
