Course Description: During this course students will observe and participate in initial
assessments and evaluations of patients with eating disorders and individual and group
psychotherapy, as well as psychopharmacological management and medical assessment
and treatment of inpatients and outpatients with eating disorders.

Course Description: Students will participate as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment
team in the evaluation and management of children and adolescents with varying severities
of psychiatric illness. They will be involved in individual, family, and group treatment
modalities, didactic presentations on topics in child and adolescent psychiatry. This
rotation involves experiences in consultation/liaison, residential inpatient, and
outpatient clinic with others as available or as per interests of the student.

Course Description: During this course students will participate in the treatment
of individuals infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS through assessment, individual
and family therapy, and psychological consultation in several HIV/AIDS treatment environments.

Course Description: During this course students will review current literature, summarizing
it as appropriate for departmental journal club, case conference or any other appropriate
venue, develop and work on a portion of or a full independent research project under
the supervision of a faculty mentor.

Course Description: The addiction medicine elective provides experience in multiple
settings including hospital-based consults, outpatient medication assisted treatment
and residential treatment. There is a wide variety of patients including underserved,
e.g., substance abusing pregnant women in treatment with their children. You will
be working with Addiction Medicine physicians and fellows as well as psychiatry residents.
Students will rotate at Wellstar MCG Health, Stoney Outpatient Clinic, and Hope House residential treatment center.

Course Description: During this course students will observe and participate in patient
evaluation, verbal and written patient case presentation including documentation in
medical records, and psychotherapy techniques frequently used in emergencies: supportive,
de-briefing, etc. The course is designed to introduce the medical student to the fundamentals
of emergency psychiatry.

Course Description: This course is designed for students interested in Psychiatry
to prepare them for internship. During the rotation, students will collaborate as
a member of an interprofessional team and demonstrate ability to act as primary clinician
for patients under attending supervision. They will be expected to demonstrate proficiency
in conducting initial assessments and evaluations and to distinguish appropriate psychopharmacological,
somatic treatments, and psychotherapy for psychiatric disorders.

Course Description: Students will observe and participate in initial assessments and evaluations of outpatient adults with various mood disorders, perform psychopharmacological management and medical assessment and treatment, direct patient care, participate in team meetings and group therapy, and attend associated didactic learning activities.
