BLS, ACLS, PALS Instructor Course Faculty Information


Prior to the Instructor Course date:
  1. Students must complete "Instructor Candidate Application"
  2. Send "Instructor Candidate Application" with a copy of the student's AHA provider card in the discipline the student is taking the course. (PALS and ACLS instructor candidates must also submit copies of their BLS provider card)
  3. If not completed for a prior instructor course, instructor candidates must pick up the "Instructor Essentials Course" from the Training Center. Only those candidates with an "Instructor Candidate Applications" on file with the Training Center will be give a "Instructor Essentials Course." The "Instructor Essentials Course" cost $40.00.
  4. All candidates must have a copy of their discipline's Instructor Manual to bring to the instructor course.
  5. Training Center Faculty will inform the Training Center Coordinator of the date of their instructor course to give the Coordinator an opportunity to inform the candidates about Training Center issues.
 
On the day of the Instructor Course:
  1. Training Center Faculty will run the course according to the Faculty Guide.
  2. Have candidates sign-in on the roster.
  3. Faculty will collect the "Instructor Essentials Course" certificates from each candidate and verify they all have an Instructor Manual. Any candidate without these items can not attend the course and will have to reschedule.
  4. Candidates will complete the "Training Center Agreement"; PALS and ACLS Candidates will complete the "Biographical Data Form".
 
After the Instructor Course:
  1. The Faculty will send the Roster to the Training Center via the Website and take the "Instructor Essentials Course" certificate, "Training Center Agreement" and the "Biographical Data From" to the Training Center.
 
Monitoring:
  1. The instructor candidate must be monitored within 6 months of the instructor course. Failing to do so will require the candidate to repeat the instructor course.
  2. The candidate must register for the "AHA Instructor Network" and be verified by the Training Center Coordinator.
  3. The "Instructor Monitor Form" is sent to the Training Center Coordinator. 
After all steps are completed the Instructor card will be issued.
