Course Description:

The MCG Clerkship Procedure Elective is a two-week self-study elective offered to MCG Clerkship medical students. The goals of this elective course are:

  • Provide a deeper understanding of the risks, benefits and challenges of common invasive procedures while allowing for legitimate peripheral participation
  • Build advocacy skills for patients undergoing invasive procedures

Outline of the Elective

Because this is a self-study course all the content and requirements have been designed for you to complete asynchronously during your two-week elective block.   A link to the full syllabus can be found by clicking here.  In brief the course consists of didactic (video and slides) instruction around core bedside and invasive procedures that you will encounter during clerkship and enrichment.

During your elective you must review all course content, complete the test and reflection assignment, and submit 5 videos of you performing key procedures.
