UHP Priorities

The Undergraduate Health Professions Department is committed to the tenants of the AU Strategic Plan's five priorities of discovery, learning, student success, community and stewardship, as well as its three interwoven priorities of innovation, engagement, and DEI - diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Briefly, our objectives to meet these priorities are as follows:

1.  Learning:  Our students are our number one priority.  Our learning objective is to provide excellence in health science education to help meet the health care needs of Georgia and beyond.  The UHP programs provide exceptional, innovative learning experiences enabling our students to become highly qualified, diverse health care professionals, the backbone of health care in Georgia, now and in the future.  Our programs strive to maintain national accreditation, ensuring students are given the best opportunity for learning.

2.  Discovery:  Our faculty and students are given the opportunities to collaborate in discovery as part of the AU research culture.  The UHP department supports a range of applied health sciences research in clinical and community health environments.  Our faculty too are encouraged to participate in collaborative discovery via the scholarship of teaching and learning pathways.

3.  Service:  Our students and faculty have opportunities to participate in service engagement through community outreach activities that impact the health and well-being of rural and underserved populations in Georgia and beyond.

4.  Diversity:  The UHP is committed to creating an environment that is welcoming to diversity, equity and inclusion in both our faculty and student populations.  The faculty have developed the following statement as a testament to this commitment:  Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Affirmation.
