Free tutoring is offered in a variety of subjects. Peer-tutoring gives students the opportunity to develop study skills and strategies needed to excel in a course. Experiencing a challenging course? Want to boost your GPA from a B to an A?The ASC provides tutoring support for groups or individuals. Tutoring is an aid to help you understand the content learned more thoroughly, not an opportunity to replace class participation and attendance. Your professor’s office hours are an exceptional tool to use. You can find your professor’s office hours within your course syllabus.

The purpose of the tutoring session is to provide a space to discuss challenging concepts, ask questions, and work through practice problems with a professional, trained peer tutor.

Tutoring is a team effort between the tutor and you. The best way to make use of math and physical science tutoring is to come with questions prepared. Our tutors are knowledgeable in their subject, but they won’t know what parts are important to you without your assistance. Bring your book, syllabus and assignments.

Tutors are not allowed to help with graded assignments, so expect them to help by explaining concepts and working through similar problems.

The Peer-Tutor Consultants are not professors. They are your peers that have taken the courses and received a 3.0 or higher.  Students seeking tutoring should be prepared with questions, their class assignment/rubric or syllabus, textbook (if applicable) and a general idea of what they need help with.  There is no time limit on drop in tutoring.  Peer- tutors are here to assist students in writing assignments, test preparation, study skills, note-taking, and time management.  Allow us to help you by being prepared for your tutoring session, come on time and ready to work.

Come in as early in the semester as possible to get the best out of the tutoring services we offer. Although we offer test reviews, coming to the ASC the day before a test may not provide the best results.

Tutoring is offered in the Academic Success Center (ASC), University Hall, 1st floor, 156.
