Legislative Exams are institutional exams administered to help students complete graduation requirements established by the Board of Regents. Most students meet their legislative requirements upon successful completion of history and political science core classes, however, there are some students who have not met their requirements for various reasons. Students who have not met their requirements should check with their advisor or with the Registrar’s Office for assistance in identifying which test(s) they are required to take.

Testing and Disability Services allows students to take all legislative exams online. Please refer to the following instructions below to gain access.

Students taking Legislative exams will need to send our office a [SECURE] email to tds@augusta.edu from their AU email requesting to gain access to their exams. Please include the following information.

  1. Name
  2. Student ID #
  3. User ID
  4. Name of requested exam (ex: Georgia History, Georgia Constitution, etc.)

Students will be given a 48-hour window to complete the exam once TDS has received the information mentioned above. If you are unable to take the exam within this 48-hour timeframe, kindly delay sending the necessary information to TDS until you are ready.

The four different areas of testing include the Georgia Constitution, Georgia History, U.S. History, and U.S. Constitution.  Information about the initial tests is described in the chart below:

Test Format Passing Score
Georgia Constitution 55 multiple choice 39
Georgia History 25 multiple choice 17
U.S. Constitution 25 multiple choice 17
U.S. History 70 multiple choice 49

The Legislative exams are done by appointment only if the student is unable to take exam online via D2L Respondus Lockdown Browser.  Be sure to bring a picture identification with you on the day of the test.  Our office is located in Galloway Hall (behind the Augusta University Bookstore on the Summerville Campus). You are allowed one hour for each test.  Please contact our office if you have a disability and require accommodations (706-737-1469). If you have a disability you must contact our office at least one week prior to testing.

In the event that a student does not pass the initial tests as described above, students are only allowed two additional attempts to successfully complete the tests. We require a minimum of one week between each test attempt. Study materials are listed below.

Please take a look at our study materials for Georgia History, US History and US Constitution exams. As well as a study guide for the GA Constitution.
