Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a comprehensive federal law that prohibits discrimination based on the gender of students and employees of educational institutions that receive federal financial assistance.

“No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.” 20 U.S.C. §1681

Augusta University does not discriminate on the basis of sex or gender in its programs and activities. Prohibited sex discrimination covers sexual harassment, including sexual violence. The university is committed to ensuring a safe environment that supports the dignity of all members of the Augusta University community. The university does not tolerate sexual misconduct, which is prohibited, and includes, but is not limited to domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, sexual exploitation, sexual harassment, and stalking.
