Cirque Mechanics: Pedal Punk, the Jimmy Heath Quintet, and more in November

Just before Thanksgiving, an event rolls into town that you will never forget.  Do not miss Cirque Mechanics, in Pedal Punk.  It is not often that you have the opportunity to witness a Cirque show in such an intimate setting.  And this is not just any Cirque show.  Spectacle Magazine hailed Cirque Mechanics as "the greatest contribution to the American circus since Cirque du Soleil."

On Tuesday, November 14th, the new Harris Horizon Jazz Greats Series launches with this year’s featured artist Jimmy Heath. Join the Augusta University Jazz Ensemble and celebrate this incredible new series.  During his career, Jimmy Heath has performed on more than 100 record albums including seven with The Heath Brothers and twelve as a leader.   His brother, Albert "Tootie" Heath joins Jimmy as part of the Quintet.

These performances are just part of a big month at the Maxwell Theatre.  Augusta University Theatre students take the stage in "Fanny's Fantastic Food Frolic" and the ensembles of the Department of Music return for their fall 2017 concerts.

The Harry Jacobs Chamber Music Society returns with pianist Nikita Mndoyants.  At only 27 years of age his impressive list of accomplishments is startling.

November opens with a creature sure to demand everyone's attention.  Join the Cinema Series at Augusta University for the International Education Week screening of the award-winning Japanese film SHIN GODZILLA.
