The AU Medical Associates operates as the academic faculty practice for the Medical College of Georgia.  The AU Medical Associates Group bills and collects professional services provided by Augusta University faculty and operates primary care and specialty physician offices.

Medical Associates Openings:

  • Professional Billing Coordinator - Coordinate and analyze all professional billing of the assigned Department. Train departmental personnel in physician billing. Analyze the medical record documentation to ascertain whether the level of service was coded appropriately and whether the service is appropriately substantiated as required by Federal and State regulations.  Supervise professional coders.  CPC certification required.  Four years similar work experience with coding and general accounts receivable experience required.
  • Patient Outreach Coordinator - Support the clinical transformation as well as the managed care transformation from a volume to value-based system for both the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) as well as other Managed Care payors.  The priorities will be aimed at reducing cost and improving quality outcomes based on specific payor relationships and contracts.  Efforts will be focused on quality improvement, reducing frequency of excessive ER visits and patients with high utilization. Work directly with the insurance carrier, the attributed provider and the patient.  Perform care coordination functions and assist the patient in scheduling and education to ensure success in the value-based transition. Serve as a liaison between Practice Site Coordinators, Nursing Leads and the Population Health team to ensure the reports are delivered and are actionable each month & quarter. Coordinate and serve as a clinical resource for Medical Associates projects including but not limited to:  Patient-Centered Medical Home, HEDIS, Meaningful Use, PQRS, MACRA. Assist Practice Site Coordinators and the Care Coordination team in specific departments to close care gaps and care opportunities for patient populations to improve and enhance clinical quality care.

    Undergraduate degree in Nursing is required. Certification from a CPT-4 and ICD-10 coding class preferred, CPC certification preferred. Minimum 4 years of professional experience working in a healthcare setting with a focus on clinical quality improvement and practice management/operations. Chart auditing experience in EMR is preferred Managed care experience required. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required. Working knowledge of HEDIS measures, PQRS, Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) as well as other quality metrics systems. Must have excellent organization skills, including multitasking and setting priorities on work assignments.
