Freshman Convocation

Freshman Convocation

Freshman Convocation is the university's official welcome for its newest members, the Class of 2021. Similar to a graduation ceremony, your Augusta University faculty and staff welcome your class to the Augusta University family. Your class theme for 2021 is "Collegiality," and a special speaker will provide some thoughts about incorporating this theme into your college life. You will also receive some great advice from the Sophomore Speaker, Class of 2020. Finally, a special "pinning ceremony" officially identifies you as a member of the Class of 2021. After the ceremony, you can join your fellow students for the class photo!

President's Picnic

President’s Picnic: Conversations with Professors/Advisors

You'll be hungry by mid-day, so our President, Dr. Keel and Provost, Dr. Caughman, are hosting the annual President’s Picnic! We provide you with a delicious free lunch, while also giving you the opportunity to meet your future professors and advisors in a casual setting. We also have information tables about ways to engage in the academic life of Augusta University. Please RSVP by August 1st , so we may reserve lunch for you.

Freshman 1101

Freshman 1101: Making the Transition to College Successfully

Take note: This is your first "class" at Augusta University! The Dean of Students welcomes you to Augusta University and introduces you to some Augusta University Student leaders with advice on how to transition from high school into the college academic environment. The session includes discussion by a professor who will share thoughts about how to handle your newfound freedom responsibly and how best to navigate the classroom. Finally, one of our beloved coaches sends you off with a Jaguar Roar!

Finale: Reception

At the end of the day—fully prepared for college and all that it entails—join your new colleagues for cold lemonade, cookies AND prizes.

To ensure that we have an accurate headcount, t-shirt size and lunch order please register online by August 1, 2017.
