The Doctor of Education in Educational Innovation prepares scholarly practitioners to respond to evolving educational systems, to advocate
for solutions to problems, and to foster innovation.
The 55-hour program of study includes 19 hours of core coursework, 9 hours in a concentration
of either curriculum and instruction or educational leadership, 12 hours in research,
and 15 hours Capstone/Dissertation in Practice.
Courses are taught face to face over six (6) weekends each semester.
Overview Course Requirements
- GPA: Minimum GPA of 3.0 at the graduate level. Competitive applicants will have a minimum
3.5 GPA at the graduate level.
- Minimum Degree Requirement: Minimum of a Master’s degree from an accredited program and an accredited college
or university. To be used to satisfy degree requirements, evaluation of foreign educational
transcripts must show degree earned that is the U.S. equivalency of degree required
by the program.
- Official Transcripts: Official transcripts are required from all universities and colleges ever attended.
Only in the case of transcripts from international colleges/universities will an official
course-by-course transcript evaluation be accepted in lieu of an official transcript.
Official transcripts should be sent to Augusta University's Office of Academic Admissions.
To remain official, all transcripts must remain in the original, unopened, sealed
and stamped/signed envelope from the Registrar's office of the issuing institution.
Alternatively, Augusta University will accept official electronic transcripts from
the registrar's office at your prior institution. Electronic transcripts should be
directed to email@example.com.
- References: Recommendations (which include a reference form and letter of recommendation) from
three individuals who can specifically address the applicant’s professional experience
and potential for success in the doctoral program are required. The Admission Committee
recommends that one letter be from a university faculty member addressing the applicants
past academic success in a graduate level program. Letters should address the candidate’s
academic abilities as well as his or her potential as educational scholarly practitioners.
- GRE Requirement: Satisfactory scores on the quantitative, verbal, and written portions of the Graduate
Record Exam (GRE) taken within 5 years of admission in the United States through an
ETS approved facility.
- Minimum score: 3.5 on the GRE writing and a total 290 on the quantitative and verbal
portion are required.
- Competitive applicant will have a minimum GRE writing score of 4.0 and a total of
300 on the quantitative and verbal portions.
- The GRE requirement may be waived for an applicant holding an earned doctorate from
an accredited United States university.
- Official test scores must be submitted to Augusta University’s Office of Academic
Admissions (ETS code 5406).
- Proof of Lawful Presence: In accordance with Board of Regents Policy 4.1.6, all applicants for admission to Augusta University are required to provide validation
of lawful presence in the United States. Acceptance to the Augusta University is conditional until lawful
presence is verified. ALL applicants who are U.S. Citizens must submit documentation
that verifies his/her lawful presence in the United States at time of application
- 300-500 word purpose statement discussing how this program aligns with the applicant’s
career goals as an educational practitioner. Completed statement must be submitted
via email to firstname.lastname@example.org
- Successful personal interview, if selected.
- Completion of a proctored writing exercise, if selected.
