CARDIAC CATHETERIZATION LABORATORY

Cardiac Catheterization is leading-edge technology, offering life-saving diagnosis and treatment of the heart without major surgery. Many conditions that once required an open procedure can now be treated by inserting small catheters into a blood vessel. This minimizes patient discomfort, decreases time spent in the hospital, and does not require the use of anesthesia. We offer this state-of-the-art care to our patients in Augusta and the surrounding CSRACentral Savannah River Area

ELECTROPHYSIOLOGY LABORATORY

Sometimes your heart beats too fast or irregularly.  These heart rhythm problems are called arrhythmias.  Some arrhythmias can be treated with medication.  Others benefit from ablation and other procedures by cardiac electrophysiologists, cardiologists who are specially trained to care for heart rhythm disorders.

We routinely provide a full spectrum of invasive, noninvasive and consultative cardiac electrophysiology services.  These include:  comprehensive invasive and noninvasive electrophysiology testing; expertise in medical and ablation therapy for heart rhythm disorders; complete heart rhythm device services; the implantation, removal and troubleshooting of pacemaker, defibrillators, biventricular implantable cardioverter defibrillator and implanted loop monitors and evaluation of syncope (fainting) and risk assessment for cardiac arrest.

ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY LABORATORY

The Echocardiography Laboratory is a technologically-advanced, fully-digital, full-service laboratory dedicated to outstanding clinical service, research and education. In addition to conventional echocardiography, we offer state-of-the-art 3D imaging. Augusta University's echocardiographic lab is the only laboratory in the area that has received full accreditation in regular echo, transesophageal echocardiography and stress testing by the ICAELIntersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories since 2006.
