Program Overview

The Department of Family Medicine in the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is starting a non-ACGME accredited Primary Care Rural Medicine (PCRM) Fellowship July 1, 2022.a hospital sign pointing down a dirt road

The Fellowship will focus on building specialized skills needed to successfully practice in rural communities including:
  • navigating unique rural community challenges
  • recognizing opportunities for community advocacy
  • honing clinical skills
The PCRM Fellow will build a unique skillset including specialized clinical skills (use of ultrasound, advanced dermatology, sports medicine, etc.) as well as behavioral and community health education specific to the areas being served. PLUS- an opportunity to learn at the Robert Gordon and Aberdeen Universities in Scotland! As part of this fellowship you will participate in a research project through which you will travel to Scotland for a 4-week rotation.

  • Memberships to GAFP and AAFP
