Academic Advisement

Notes & Dates

Key Date: MAJORFEST Wed Oct 4 – stop in to JSAC Ballroom 9:30am-12 Noon and meet the academic representatives, learn about their programs, how to excel, enjoy free snacks and maybe win prizes!  Browse, chat, ask questions, and introduce yourself to your program. Mark date as “must do” in your calendar!

The Academic Advisement Center (UH260) is where undergraduates begin. An “Academic Advisement Advisee” hold indicates that Academic Advisement is your academic home and remains in place until you exit to your major/program. This hold is identifier that does not prevent any action by a student.

If you are thinking about withdrawing from a course, contact your academic advisor to discuss your concerns. (Ensure that any withdrawal is fully processed by the midterm date.)

Academic Advisement’s “walk-in” hours provide continuing students with opportunities for quick consultations on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, 10:00am-11:00am and 3:00pm-4:00pm.

Academic Advisement’s continuing students make “Next Term Advisement” appointments through the link provided in their advisor’s email in mid-September for Spring or mid-January for Summer/Fall. Use link promptly to secure time with your advisor to review your academic plan and discuss target courses. (Next Term Advisement required for registration).

Stop by the Academic Success Center (UH156) for tutoring, coaching, workshops or just to study!

If you want an “A”, earn it every day! Map key dates from your course syllabus on a term calendar, then plan how to meet these well prepared. Don’t ignore the small points – 10% of your grade could be your “A”. Ask your advisor for tips and check out the Succeed tab on this website.
